Few endeavors taught me as much about what it means to truly be defined by one’s work than this project. We began work on the flyer almost a year to the day it was finally printed. Learning an older, hands-on way of doing something where you must be involved in every step of the process lent an appreciation for what it means to truly make something. We were lucky enough to be taken in by Ink Knife studio where the founder patiently helped me work through the kinks. It was hard and tedious and painstaking and worth it all. The flyer symbolizes the true goal of Motuv: to localize passion and foster its fires until, like billions of point particles, they eventually compound into something powerful. This is done not by grandiose gestures, but by the smallest and simplest of things–by the power of right action performed each day.
MOTUV [Movement of the Unified Voice] was founded in the vein of the movements like the impressionists of Paris, and the Salon de Refuse. Motuv consists of a band of dreamers and doers who seek to unify not just the cultural forms we create, but the language of the animate landscape atop which they are built.
